Dear colleagues, I have a hard time getting the Find by address option to work. I use regular and correct addresses, but it never seems to find anything based on it. I did get '5051 Peachtree Corners Circle, Norcross, GA' to work, so the basic functionality does work. But no matter what other address I try, it always returns zero hits. Now most of the addresses I tried are international. Is that an issue? Are international addresses supposed in this searchtool, or is it a US only tool? Best regards, Dirk |

Hi Dirk, Currently we utilize two open source projects to support our 'Find' feature. http://geocoder.us/ Geocoder.us is a public service providing free geocoding of addresses and intersections, in the United States only. http://www.geonames.org/ Geonames provides free geo-data such as geographical names and postal codes. The database contains over eight million geographical names and consists of 6.5 million unique features. So, finding a place name like 'Eiffel Tower' will work, but finding that location via its address in Paris will not work. We recognize the limitations here for our non-U.S. participants and plan to significantly beef this feature up in the future. Amy |
