Just downloaded Titan and tried to connect to our WMS (running GeoServer 1.6.5 with 630 layers).
I wrote up what I did here:

Hi and thanks for the post.
In the current version we've endured some limitations with WMS and it looks like you found one. This is resolved in the new version that will be released within the next week or so. I'm attaching pics of your Airport layers in the Viewer, and the layers properly cataloged in the GeoIM. They get cataloged in the GeoIM so you can take the layers into other apps as well via right click.
I talked to the development team about the error you got: it's pointing to an error trying to read a wcs, but your server is WMS. I think that this unveils a bug in the prior code where TITAN may have looked for a WCS when it couldn't find a WMS. This is not an issue in the current version.
